Daur /dör/ (Celt) A form of dare, A dare to be courageous.
Mydd Pharo has been crafting immersive and interactive work for the likes of Kneehigh, Punchdrunk, The National Theatre and the Globe for over 25 years. He joined the legendary immersive theatre company Wildworks at its inception, helping create every Wildworks project to date and serving the last five years as its Artistic Director.
With every project, costume, creation and story he has pushed himself to find the new and explode the ordinary. And it’s this search that has led him to start Daur, a new experiment in theatre and multi-disciplinary arts with a clear goal – to create courageous productions and experiences that embrace fear, experimentation, innovation, collaboration and most importantly joy.
“Mydd Pharo is a genuine one-off! Primal, surprising and witty, his work combines the ancient and modern, the urban and the rural. He is a visual magician; a theatre shaman, no less!”
What We Stand For
Creating great art takes courage and experimentation
The world isn’t waiting for more of the same. We’re here to unearth, create and push for the extraordinary. To find the courage to experiment and to constantly challenge and rediscover our own processes so that we can create experiences that shake our very foundations.
Constant learning through collaboration
If we create in isolation, we can only know what we have known. Daur will embrace a process of continuous collaboration, learning, nurturing new talents, ideas and experiences to make sure we are always expanding our own outlook. By doing this we will make sure our work is evolving as the world shifts and changes.
Kindness
If art and theatre is a force for change in the world, then we believe that you must practise what you preach, and kindness is at the heart of what we do. To be radically kind is to make kindness the heart of how we work and operate, ensuring that every person that is involved with our work, including ourselves are looked after with the utmost care and generosity.
